Acting Governor of Taraba State, Sani Danladi Abubakar, yesterday, inaugurated a 13-man team named ‘Policy and Contract Verification Committee’ to probe all contracts awarded and executed during the tenure of the former acting governor, Garba Umar.
Danladi, while inaugurating the committee, said it was not to witch-hunt or vilify anyone but to ensure that government businesses were executed effectively.
A former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr Philip Duwe, is the chairman of the committee while Alhaji Said Bawa serves as secretary.
The acting governor urged members of the committee to put the interest of the people at heart in the discharge of their assignment and stick to the terms of reference.
In another development, the acting governor swore in Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps as the new Secretary to the State Government.
The state Chief Judge, Justice Josephine Tuktur, administered the oath of office on the new SSG. Kataps was the former commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state.
Danladi urged the new SSG to be transparent and courageous in the discharge of his duties. He said the tasks ahead are enormous and expressed confidence in him. Responding, the new SSG thanked the acting governor for the appointment and promised to be loyal and committed in carrying out his duties.
