The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned a former Bayelsa State governor, Timipre Sylva, before a Federal High Court in Abuja over his alleged involvement in about N2.45 billion fraud.
Sylva was alleged to have committed the offence between October 2009 and February 2010 while serving as governor of Bayelsa State.
The re-arraignment of Sylva, a former PDP governor now one of the leading lights in the All Progressives Congress, followed the retirement of the former trial judge, Justice Adamu Bello.
Sylva, who was re-arraigned before Justice Evoh Chukwu, on a six-count charge., pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Justice Chukwu granted Sylva bail in the conditions and terms previously granted by the former trial judge and adjourned to May 25 for commencement of trial.
