Two suspected secret cult members have allegedly stabbed to death an 18-year-old SS II student, Abdullahi Muhammad, on Monday in Katsina.
An eye witness told the News Agency of Nigeria in Katsinaon Tuesday that the deceased was killed by suspected social miscreants, identified as Kauraye.
The eyewitness said the deceased was killed at about 9.30pm in front of his family compound for his refusal to give his cell phone to the assassins.
Family sources also told NAN that the two killers came on a motorcycle and asked the deceased to release his phone to them.
The source said when the deceased refused to comply, the hoodlums stabbed him in the neck with a knife.
According to the source, the victim slumped and the suspects picked the phone and zoomed off immediately on their motorcycle.
The Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, DSP Salisu Agaisa, confirmed the incident and said the police had commenced investigation to arrest the killers.
“We have deployed competent detectives to carry out investigations into the incident,” he said.
Agaisa called on members of the public to always assist the police by providing information about criminals and their activities.
