Francisca Ordega left it late to earn Nigeria a point as the Super Falcons fought back to deny Sweden in a six-goal Group D thriller.
Sweden had taken the lead in fortunate circumstances in Canada as Desire Oparanozie gifted them the lead with a calamitous own goal.
They doubled their lead midway through the opening half thanks to Nilla Fischer, but Nigeria’s Ngozi Okobi hit back before half time to halve the deficit.
That goal buoyed Nigeria and they were quickly level thanks to Liverpool striker Asisat Oshoala who netted just minutes after the break.
However, their fight back looked to be in vein when Sweden substitute Linda Sembrant came off the bench to regain the lead for Pia Sundhage’s side.
But Ordega, a substitute herself, had the last laugh as she earned the champions of Africa a point in the group of death.
