AS the controversy surrounding the $15million arms deal in two separate transactions in South Africa by the Federal Government continues to generate reactions, former minister for state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has berated the South African Government, demanding apology over seizure of the funds and making mockering of Nigerian government.
Obanikoro who spoke in Abuja on Tuesday maintained that the two transactions were legitimate and wondered why a country that had been faced with similar challenges of liberating its citizens and engaged in similar cash transactions in the past would subject another country that played a key role in its favour would intentionally embarrass that same country facing a similar challenge.
“I want to believe that there must be a change. What South Africa did to us is unacceptable, its not fair, its not just and it was unnecessary. Here is a nation that stood by them during their time of need. If there’s any country that should understand the need to use cash to procure weapons, it is South Africa.”
