In a year that’s already included starring in a Lil Nas X video and reuniting with the cast of Jessiefor an important cause, Skai Jackson celebrated another major milestone with the help of the internet: her high school graduation.
On Wednesday (May 11), Skai shared her 2020 graduation photo in which she’s wearing her cap and gown, hands are holding tightly to her diploma. Sharing the photo with Instagram and Twitter, Skai appropriately captioned the image with, “#ReachForTheSkai” on Instagram, which is also the title of her recent book.
Graduating is definitely an occasion worth celebrating, and luckily, Skai had plenty of social media support, including a tweet from Lil Nas X. Additionally, some turned the photograph into a meme, writing, “this picture whispered “ᴘᴇʀɪᴏᴅ”and “i hope she just took the ap gov exam.” Others left jokes in the comments, writing, “We graduating on zoom all 2020‼️”
In addition to the photo’s possible future as a go-to meme, many expressed surprise that the former Jessie star was already saying farewell to her high school years. “I feel like I’ve watched you grow up, and I’m a freshmen!!! I’m so much younger. still can’t believe your [sic] a 18! Congrats girl!! Live it up,” one fan encouraged. “Skai Jackson went from 9 to 18 in 0.2 seconds and I can’t cope with reality,” another Twitter user noted.
As for Skai, she appeared to be taking her newfound graduation photo fame in stride. Her Instagram Story featured some of the many supportive comments, while her Twitter featured a few retweeted reactions. We’re just glad tom see that she’s already #ReachingForTheSkai and soaking the congratulations in.
