Rihanna may be gearing up to start a family in the not so distant future.
In a cover story for British Vogue, the 32-year-old singer, philanthropist and fashion icon opened up about her work ethic, what brought her recent relationship to an end and even the possibility of having children.
In January, Rihanna and Saudi billionaire businessman Hassan Jameel ended their nearly three-year relationship. Though she had been tight-lipped during the course of their relationship, she now alludes to the idea that time and wisdom may have lead to the breakup.
“Since I turned 32, I’m realizing life is really short,” Rihanna said. “You don’t have a lot of time to tolerate s***, you know? You put so much on your plate. When you’re overwhelmed, you need to start cutting things out. And I’m overwhelmed too much. What’s happening now is that I’m going back to black and white. My gray area is shutting down.”
With her music career, her work as the founder of the Clara Lionel Foundation, and her brands Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty, it is no surprise that Rihanna has a full schedule, but she hopes to slow down as she gets older.
“I know I will want to live differently,” she admitted. “Ten years? I’ll be 42! I’ll be ancient…I’ll have kids – three or four of ’em.”
She went on to say that she would also be open to motherhood still even if she had not met the right partner.
“I feel like society makes me want to feel like, ‘Oh, you got it wrong…’ They diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives. But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.
