Gusau—Former Zamfara State governor, Alhaji Shinkafi has asked his successor, Governor Abdulaziz Yari to prove his claims that he (Shinkafi) left an empty treasury and a debt of 45 billion for him.
Shinkafi spoke in an interview with Vanguard in Gusau, the state capital weekend.
The former governor said that he did not leave any debt of that nature, pointing out that the present administration in the state was confused on how to solve the economic and political problems facing the state.
According to him, Yari was only accusing him of leaving a huge “debt” to convince the electorate which was tired of his alleged poor of style of administration to vote for him again in 2015.
Shinkafi said that his administration laid a good foundation on which its successors could have moved Zamfara to greater heights but regretted that Yari squandered the opportunity.
‘’We concentrated on how to move the state forward economically so that the people can become self reliants and reduce crimes across the state, but this is not what is happening in Zamfara State right now.
”What is happening in Zamfara today is unfortunate. People have been pauperised and more beggars are now on the streets. The people have not been doing anything, and government is not ready to assists them.
