Acting Director General of the Service, The Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Matthew Seiyefa, has vowed to return to the part of professionalism, saying the era of human rights abuses and unlawful detention was over.
Seyifa, who spoke in Abuja on Wednesday, at a maiden press briefing to unfold his agenda, said he would keep the agency within the limits of its enabling laws.
Seiyefa was appointed acting DG on Tuesday, following the sack of Mr. Lawal Daura, whose three year stint at the DSS, exposed the agency to harsh criticisms.
The acting head of the secret police pledged to collaborate with other sister agencies as well as the media, with a view to achieving the Services’ core mandate.
