The Nigeria Senate has decided to back-pedal on its move to amendment of the Code of Conduct Bureau act following the fierce criticism that ensued the decision to amend the bill. Feelers had complained that the amendment was to favour corrupt persons especially those in the senate..
The senate’s attempt to amend the bill was in response to the trial of Nigeria’s senate president, Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
There were strong oppositions in direct confrontation to the amendment, among them are human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) among others.
After having a rethink, the senate has suspended the amendment of the bill.
