Supporters of a former Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Bukola Saraki who is currently in the race for the next Senate President on Saturday offered prayers for him to actualise his ambition.
The prayer sessions, coordinated by a former Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor, on Communication and Strategy, were led by Christian and Muslim clerics comprising 9 delegation from the Christian Association of Nigeria and league of imams from Kwara South Senatorial district.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Kwara- South, Jimoh Balogun, during a media briefing said Saraki, who represents Kwara Central and also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Ecology and Environment, was qualified to lead the Senate.
Balogun also described as untrue the insinuation that Kwara State is a Yoruba state, saying the state is among the 19 northern states in the country.
He stated that constitutionally and demographically, Kwara is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious state.
Balogun said, “We are equally aware that North-Central geo-political zones was considered for the Senate presidency especially because of its crucial electoral performances and in due observance of the principles of equity and fair play.
“We are equally convinced that within the North-Central geo-political zone, Kwara State deserves to produce the next Senate President for two unassailable reasons: on the strength of its outstanding performance in the 2015 general elections. Since Benue State has produced two Senate presidents over a cumulative tenure of three terms, it would be most unfair no to give it to Kwara.”Punch
