The Imo Governor, Mr Rochas Okorocha, said that state had inaugurated a Pilot Security Data Capturing to assist law enforcement agents to detect criminals who disguised as Keke (tricycle) operators in the state. Okorocha disclosed this in Owerri on Wednesday while addressing commercial tricycle operators. He said that the move was to further beef-up security and improve the well being of Imo citizens, especially during the Christmas season. He said that the issue of insecurity to lives and properties was at the front burner of government to ensure meaningful development.
The governor commended the group for the maximum cooperation he enjoyed from them since the inception of his administration. He said that his administration had justified their mandate through numerous transformation projects in the state in three and half years.
Okorocha said that the commercial tricycles would be replaced with taxis in the state capital before it they would finally be phased out. Earlier, the President, Imo Pilots Transport Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Comrade Austine Ojukwu, said the security data capturing would provide information on every tricycle.
He pledged, on behalf of his group, to continue to support the governor’s administration.(NAN)
