Scores Feared Dead As Inmates Attempt Jailbreak In Kirikiri, Lagos

According to Thisday, it was gathered that there was an attempted jailbreak at the Kirikiri Medium Prison, Apapa area of Lagos friday afternoon, where scores were allegedly said to have been killed. To quell the situation, personnel of the Nigerian Navy (NN) and the Kirikiri Police Station were said to have been called in to assist the men of the Nigerian Prison Service safeguard the massive gates of the prison. When contacted, the Lagos State Police Command Prison Public Relations Officer, Biyi Jeje, he first claimed ignorance and promised to find out. Subsequent attempts to reach him again proved abortive as be did not pick the several calls put across to him, neither did he reply the text message also sent to his phone.
