The Federal Ministry of Science and Technology will continue to collaborate with states across the country to emulate advanced economics so as to evolve developing economies to become advanced.
Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Abdul Bulama, who was represented by Dr Adeneye Talabi stated this, during the inauguration of additional block of eight incubation units at the technology incubation centre, Ibadan, in collaboration with the Oyo State Ministry of Industry Applied Science and Technology, adding that the Ministry is ready to support the incubation centre to a logical end, to add value to the economic base and generate employment for youths.
While commending Oyo State government for its valuable assistance for the incubation centre, the minister urged the state government not to relent, as the project will accelerate rapid industrial development of the state and nation.
Also, the Director General, Chief Executive Officer, National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Dr Mohammed Jibrin, averred that the incubation centre will continue to generate employment, wealth creation and eradicate poverty among Nigerians as the Federal Government is ready to make it fully operational.
Dr Jibrin said that the NBTI will not relent in putting in place policy frame work for the development of technology to meet best global practices, adding that the centre was strategically located to benefit in research development from all the higher institutions in the South West geopolitical zone.
While saying that the centre will focus on entrepreneurial scheme as well as Information Communication Technology (ICT), he said that to make it conform with best global practices, there is the need to make a perimeter fence, science laboratory as well as signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the state government.
He, however, said that the centre will continue to be a rally point to assist small scale entrepreneurs to overcome the initial hurdles of bringing viable research and development result and other technologies into profitable enterprises by making Nigeria a technologically competitive nation
