The Korean peninsula settlement roadmap proposed by Russia and China is being successfully implemented, Russian Ambassador-at-Large, Oleg Burmistrov, said on Thursday.
“I need to say that over a year or more, our plan, our roadmap has not only proved its viability, but in fact it has already begun to be implemented in the first two stages.
“Since the beginning of this year, the situation on the peninsula has calmed down; at least there have been no major provocations by both sides.
“There have been no accusations that we heard last year, which were completely unacceptable,’’ Burmistrov said at the Moscow Conference on International Security.
The diplomat added that the U.S.-South Korea drills, which began on Sunday, were of smaller scale compared to 2017, but noted that Moscow wanted the U.S. to immediately cease military activities on the Korean peninsula.
“Ideally, we would like it to be ceased immediately,’’ Burmistrov said. (Sputnik/NAN)
