*delegates emerge across the state
The PDP ward congresses in Rivers State were conducted successfully in the 319 wards of the state, with the State PDP ward congress committee, stressing that the party guidelines were strictly adhered to.
Electoral materials were distributed by the committee at the State party secretariat by the committee led by its chairman, Dr Yakubu Gambo.
Dr Gambo charged all local government returning officers to follow the guidelines in administering the ward congresses.
The State Ward Congress Chairman described PDP as a government in waiting in view of the sound organization of the state party secretariat.
Also speaking, Rivers State PDP chairman, Felix Obuah stated that all necessary processes required by the party’s constitution for the ward congresses have been followed.
He said that party secretariat remains at the beck and call of the committee to ensure a successful conduct of the ward congresses.
The congresses were peaceful in the wards monitored in Port Harcourt, Obio Akpor, Ikwerre, Emohua, Bori and Ahoada LGAs.
Mr Chukwuemeka Aaron, PDP chairman of Obio Akpor LGA described the ward congresses as successful.
He said that the State PDP Executive met will all local government executives and aspirants on Saturday where all issues relating to the ward congresses were discussed.
Aaron said all aspirants contesting the congresses went to their wards, while those making noise are those being sponsored by the APC.
The Rivers State PDP Governorship Aspirant, Barrister Nyesom Wike voted in Ward 9 of Obio Akpor LGA. He received a rousing welcome from party faithful of his ward.
The party ward congress is meant to elect three delegates per ward for the forthcoming primaries of the PDP.
Different ward party members expressed happiness with the peaceful and successful conduct of the ward congresses across the state.
