The Federal Government has been advised to make adequate budgetary provision for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) the same way it budgeted for the fight against the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram.
Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr Sampson Parker, gave the advice during a chat with journalists in Abuja, on Thursday.
He, however, warned that Nigeria is at a high risk of a deadly outbreak of the EVD during the festive period, if adequate measures are not put in place by both the federal and state governments.
Parker therefore called on the National Assembly, especially the Senate, to intervene to ensure that enough resources are budgeted for the fight of the disease.
He further called on the Federal Government to assist the state governments in maintaining the treatment centres in all nooks and crannies of the country.
