In recent history, the brand’s founder and namesake, Rihanna has taken to using red carpet appearances as a treasure hunt for debuting secret Fenty Beauty drops, and her latest lewk is no exception.
On June 21, Rih attended Virgil Abloh‘s historic debut as Louis Vuitton‘s artistic director with her eyes accented by an optic white cat eye that immediately had fans asking for a way to DIY her makeup — and speculating that a Fenty Beauty eyeliner launch is in the near future.
The brand shared a breakdown of the look on Instagram, but details surrounding Rihanna’s eye makeup were notably absent from the caption. (👀.) “An eyeshadow palette is coming soon!!!! We see you @badgalriri,” speculated one user. “Liner coming soon,” commented another.
To create Rih’s glowy look, makeup artist Priscilla Ono prepped Rihanna’s skin with Pro Filt’r Primer and evened out her complexion with Pro Filt’r Foundation in 340. Then, she used two shades of Matchstix as contour and blush, followed by Killawatt Highlighter in Hustla Baby to get a lit-from-within glow. A pressed translucent powder set the entire look — try Flower Beauty’s Matte Universal Finishing Pressed Powder (a 2018 Teen VogueAcne Award winner) for a shine-free finish.
While it’s unclear when a Fenty Beauty eyeliner will be available to those of us who, you know, aren’t Rihanna, there are plenty of other ways to get the look: Create a winged shape with NYX White Liquid Liner, or subtly highlight your lashline and inner corners with a pigmented pencil like Catrice’s Kohl Kajal for an instantly brighter effect.
Back in May 2017, Rihanna teased her new Killawatt foil shades at the 2017 Met Gala nearly a year before the new shades launched — a move that fans also speculated to be a case of history repeating itself at the Ocean’s 8 movie premiere on June 5. We see you,
