The International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law, Intersociety, a human rights group has lended its voice to the continued detention Nnamdi Kanu by DSS.
In a petition it wrote to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN Hon Justice Mahmud Mohammed and the President of Court of Appeal, PCA Hon Justice Zainab Adamu Bulkachuwa, it decried what it termed as illegal detention of citizen Nnamdi Kanu of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB by the Department of Security Services, DSS from October 22 when he was granted bail by an Abuja Municipal Magistrate Court in Wuse, Zone 2, till date, without any reason to justify the action.
Pressing further,Intersociety said it was ironical and amounted to a mockery of Nigerian judicial system that the extra-judicial detention of Kanu had continued in defiance of three more orders (production order, transfer order and release order) made by the same Abuja Municipal Magistrate Court between October 23 and 28, 2015 and duly served on the DSS, yet they flouted the orders with reckless abandon.
Recall Nnamdi Kanu is the operator of illegal Radio station, Radio Biafra according to the federal authorities. He has been on detention over his involvement in the radio broadcast promoting the agitation for the state of Biafra.
