One of the 16 aggrieved governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Bekinbo Dagogo-Jack, has expressed his resolve to work for the emergence of the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike as the next governor of the state in 2015.
Dagogo-Jack, who stated this during an interactive session with journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, said he has also resolved to channel his energy and resources towards ensuring that the PDP wins the Presidency, as well as the House of Assembly and National Assembly elections in the state during the 2015 general elections.
He said although the December 8, 2014 governorship primaries of the PDP, which saw the emergence of Wike, the immediate past minister of state for education as the party’s standard bearer, had defects, the decision of the leadership of the party remains supreme. The governorship aspirant said, “I cannot discuss about the future; the future knows how to discuss itself. I can tell you that a lot of you here knew that some of the processes that were used to arrive at this decision (PDP governorship primary) were deceitful, by any standard, but the results are there and the party has taken a decision. So, any aspirant is confronted with a choice.
“The choice I and my people behind me have picked is that we will remain in the PDP. We will work for the PDP to be victorious in the next election at all levels; governorship, House of Assembly, Federal House of Representatives, Senate and on top of all, the Presidency. “We will not like to do anything that will give space to the APC, especially in the presidential election and going down the stretch to other elections. So, anything we do, sometimes, something happens to you, it is a temptation and if you fall for it, then, you will realise that you didn’t help yourself at all. We have no apologies to anyone for our decision. “That is the decision I took and I am happy that my people who are even more aggrieved than myself bought the same idea. We are after group interest and that is the Rivers interest. Group interest is higher than personal interest
