According to reports in Italy, José Mourinho is about to put pen to Manchester United paper.
Another day, another sign that Manchester United may be a step closer to hiring José Mourinho as their new manager. The latest update comes courtesy of Sky Italia’s Alessandro Alciato, who dropped a strong hint of the Special One’s imminent Old Trafford arrival on Twitter:
That was promptly supplemented by a post on the Italian Sky Sport website, which declares that Mourinho has been in contract for United for several weeks, and that the agreement will be official in hours rather than days or weeks. There seems to be mounting evidence of Ed Woodward doing the unthinkable and actually acting decisively.
Equally, there’s good reason to believe that Alciato’s on the money. Aside from the simple common sense that dictates that Louis van Gaal should not be allowed another season to bore United supporters to fifth place, there’s also the fact that Alciato is a pretty well-sourced journalist. He’s had a few prominent scoops in recent times, and has conducted an interview with Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes.
Brace yourselves; this seems to be happening.
