A group, Rivers Progressive Union, RPU, has berated Mr. Chris Akunna, a known media consultant to Rivers APC for his failed attempt at using the social media to lampoon the reconciliation between former PDP Governorship aspirants and the party’s governorship candidate, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Christmas day.
Mr Boma Tamuno, Publicity Secre…tary of RPU regretted that Chris Akunna always allows monetary consideration to be cloud his journalistic judgment.
He said: “We understand the frustration of Chris Akunna. He is afraid that his source of free money from the failed Rivers APC will dry up once they are defeated. We have followed his numerous lies sponsored by the Rivers APC and we feel this is the time to respond.
“We understand that Chris Akunna was introduced to Rivers APC by Dr Chris Ngige his former boss. Be that as it may, is it not wise for Akunna to have taken a look at the communique after the Christmas meeting and watched the report on television, before embarking on a futile attempt on social media. We know Akunna as one of those actively used by Rivers APC to hype the disagreements before the primary “.
“Akunna has refused to comment on the fact that his paymasters did not hold a primary as their candidate was anointed by the failed governor.
“RPU will henceforth respond to Akunna and other paid media hireling of failed Governor Amaechi. The over N39b Rivers State funds used in the sponsorship of Buhari and APC campaign is working on Akunna.
“Though Akunna will always support his paymasters, we advise him to notice that the meeting was organised by the Rivers PDP, with different groups and representatives in attendance. We ask him to further realise that there were 24 governorship aspirants in Rivers PDP primary, not only 16 as he was paid to promote. Seven of these aspirants participated in the primary. He should be bold enough to return the money paid him by Rivers APC for failing to stop Wike from emerging. Bread and butter journalist, to say the least “.
