President Goodluck Jonathan Has fired the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba.
The president has in his stead appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase as acting IGP with immediate effect.
Presidential Spokesman and Media Adviser, Dr. Reuben Abati, announced the development in a tweet on Tuesday.
He said, “President Jonathan sacks IGP Suleiman Abba, appoints DIG Solomon Arase as Acting IGP with immediate effect”.
The reason for the sack was not officially disclosed in the tweet although rumours had been rife that Abba would soon vacate the post. Abba who was confirmed on the IGap position only last year.
