The Presidency yesterday disowned the ‘Presidential View and Endorsement Platform,’ one of the groups campaigning for President Goodluck Jonathan, saying it does not have any link with it.
It said the group has been inviting other groups rooting for President Jonathan’s re-election in 2015 to attend a summit on October 16, in Abuja.
In a statement issued by the special assistant on support groups to the special adviser to the President, political affairs, Dr. Godson Nnaka, the presidency said all registered groups, NGOs and organizations supporting President Jonathan should disregard the invitation.
He said the only umbrella body for all groups in the country rooting for President Jonathan is the Goodluck Support Group (GSG), stressing that all groups that have not gone through the recently conducted screening and evaluation exercise should do so.
“The desire to carry out the screening and evaluation exercise was to forestall groups speaking in discordant tones while supporting the President and believes that after the screening, a code of conduct is being designed for all groups,” he added.
Dr. Nnaka further cautioned support groups to be law abiding and continue to rally support for the President and the PDP in the next year’s general elections.
