The Police in Taraba State said it have arrested a suspect who specialises in kidnapping under-aged children.
His arrest led to the rescue of about 17 children kidnapped by him.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday in Ibi Local Government area of Taraba State, while trying to ferry the children through River Benue to neighbouring Plateau State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Joseph Kwaji, confirmed that the number of children rescued from the suspect were 17.
He stated that “the arrest was made possible by our patrol team, who have been keeping vigil in Ibi and other parts of the southern zone of the state.”
According to him, the state’s Police Commissioner “has directed that the case be transferred from Ibi to the Command headquarters in Jalingo for proper investigation.”
