Five notorious fraudsters who allegedly specialised in defrauding unsuspecting citizens have been arrested by the Imo State Police Command.
The suspects were said to be operating with a Volkswagen Wagon Jetta Vehicle with Reg No. EHM-168-AA, when luck ran against them.
According to the state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, the suspects were arrested at the Polytechnic Junction, Nekede, after the command received a distress call.
He said members of the syndicate had been previously incriminated in several cases of this nature before their arrest.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Andrew Enwerem, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who paraded the suspects on behalf of the police commissioner, said two armed men, who specialised in vehicle snatching, were intercepted at Ikenegbu, Owerri, following a tip off.
This, he said, led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man, while the others took to their heels on sighting the police.
The police boss also spoke of arrests made by his men in respect of unlawful possession cultist materials and cultism, as well as other robbery cases, involving a 27-year-old man from Ikeduru local governmenr area, another 28-year-old man from Itu, in the Ezinihitte Mbaise council area.
