A girl of about 13, wired with an explosive vest has been arrested by the Kano State police command, bringing a new dimension to the callousness of the Boko Haram militia.
Boko Haram has resorted more and more to the use of female bombers and the use of teenagers is a bringing a fresh angle to their atrocious activities.
Channels Tv reported that a police source, who pleaded anonymity, said the girl in question was arrested at a location in the city.
“We have intelligence report that a group of suicide bombers were sent to Kano to wreak havoc and we pursued, that is what led to the arrest of one today,” the source was quoted to have said.
The police commissioner in Kano Mr. Aderenle Shinaba could not confirm the arrest to Channels Television but said the police is tracking a group of female terrorists.
“Our secret agents are currently tracking a group of female suicide bombers and we will update you as soon we have what we want.”
Mr. Shinaba also denied a media reports that an explosion was averted at Unguwa Ukku fruit market.
