THE Police Service Commission on Saturday announced the promotion of 18 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, and approved their postings with four other AIGs.
The commission in a statement said 12 of the AIGs would head the Police Zonal Commands while the remaining 10 would lead Police special formations like operations, training, Police Academy, info-tech, investment and maritime, among others.
The statement signed by the Head of Public Relations of the service, Okechukwu Ani, said: “The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State, Ibrahim Adamu, is now AIG Zone 1, Abdulmajid Ali, CP, Ogun State becomes AIG, Zone 2 while Usman Tilli, currently the AIG Border is now the AIG Zone 3.”
Also appointed are: “AIG Dorothy A. Gimba who retains her Investment Formation Command, AIG Mohammed K. Mohammed, SU and Mohammed Musa Katsina moved from Maritime to DS, NIPSS. AIG Katsina will be replaced at the Maritime Desk by Paul Okafor, CP Benue State.”
He said the commission also approved the appointment of 37 Commissioners of Police and promotion of nine Deputy Commissioners of Police.
