The Plateau Government on Wednesday said it would deal with quackery among medical practitioners in the state.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Fom Dakwak, said this in Jos while inaugurating a Monitoring Committee of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
Dakwak noted that the profession was replete with quacks.
He charged the committee to ensure that quackery in the medical sector was totally eliminated by monitoring medical practitioners in the state and evaluating their performances.
Dakwak said the committee would also help decentralise supervisory activities at the national level to ensure efficiency in duties.
He said government had earlier set up a committee that monitored more than 300 clinics in the state.
However, he noted that there is shortage of qualified medical practitioners to man them.
