The Federal Government Denied Tuesday newspaper report which claimed “that the 2014 budget year has been extended to the end of March 2015.
A statement by Francis Ojiah,director of administration,Budget Office of the Federation said the report was untrue.
“We wish to state categorically that it not true, he said.
Ojiah said “The 2014 budget year, as scheduled, comes to a close at midnight, December 31, 2014.”
“Contrary to the impression given by the story, an extension of the budget year is not the prerogative of the Budget Office of the Federation.”
The statement said further, “Rather, it has its own processes and procedures which require Executive and Legislative action.
“ I wish to stress that an extension of the budget year has neither been contemplated nor discussed by the Executive Branch, and the public should ignore the story.
“ Once again, I wish to reiterate that the 2014 budget year ends on December 31, 2014” ,Ojiah said.
