A helicopter operated by Quorom Aviation has crashed in Ikeja, Lagos with two persons including the pilot confirmed dead.
But one person was rescued alive in the accident that happened around the Salvation Bus-stop area of the Lagos surburb, according to eyewitness accounts.
Nosa Okunbor, Head of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the casualty figures.
“There are three casualties. Two died. One resuscitated and taken to the hospital,” Okunbor said.
“Yes, it just happened. The helicopter crashed in Opebi around 12pm. LASEMA operatives are on our way to the incident site. I’ll give you more updates.”
The Director-General, LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the state had activated emergency responders to the scene.
According to him, “the agency got a distress call concerning a privately operated helicopter that crashed into 16A Salvation Road, Opebi, Ikeja and immediately activated the emergency response plan.
“The helicopter was carrying three passengers; one is in the intensive care unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital while the bodies of the two killed on impact have been deposited in the mortuary. We are on top of challenges especially crowd control while operation is ongoing.”
