Pep Guardiola has praised Chelsea’s midfield trio of Mount, Kante and Barkley after the 2-1 Premier League loss at Stamford Bridge on Thursday. Pep mentioned that the trio comandeared the midfield and made it difficult for the City players.
The three points are huge for Frank Lampard’s men as they restored a five-point cushion over Manchester United and Wolverhampton, in fifth and sixth, respectively.
Pep also praised Chelsea’s patience and singled out Lampard’s energetic midfield three; N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Ross Barkley.
He claimed that both fixtures with the blues were tight and difficult.
“They have incredible players in the middle and players who can run. So, yes, they did well and congratulations to Chelsea for the victory” he said.
Guardiola also pointed to the quality of players in the bench with Pedro, Zouma, jorginho and Kovacic not starting.
He also commented on the arrival of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech:“So, they have incredible guys in their squad, too, and then they have extra talent with Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech coming in this summer,” he added.
The Blues now turn their attention to the FA Cup as they are going to face Leicester City in the quarterfinal tie this Sunday, June 28.
