Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Thursday, declared that none of the opposition political parties jostling to take over the Presidency in the 2015 elections has the capacity to do so.
She made the declaration at the Samson Siasia Sport Complex, Yenagoa, during the official launch of the distribution of economic empowerment items and commodities to indigenes of Bayelsa State.
The programme was organised by the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in collaboration with the Bayelsa State Government through the MDGs Conditional Scheme, the office of the First Lady and the Women for Change and Development Initiative.
Dignitaries at the event were wife of the Bayelsa State Governor, Rachel Dickson, the Deputy Governor of the state, John Jonah, and Senators Emmanuel Paulker (Bayelsa Central), Heineken Lokpobiri (Bayelsa West) and Clever Ikisikpo (Bayelsa East).
Others included House of Representatives members from the state, Nadu Karibo (Ogbia), Warman Ogoriba (Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma and Henry Ofongo (Southern Ijaw), as well as the Secretary to Bayelsa State Government, Edmund Allison-Oguru, among others.
Dickson, who was repeatedly advertised as the chief host at the launch, did not show up at the event and no official of the state government was announced as his representative.
The First Lady’s declaration came barely three days after Jonathan declared in Abuja his intention to run for second term in office in the 2015 elections.
She boasted that the PDP could never be defeated, stressing that it would always be the winning party in the country.”
