The leadership crisis rocking the Assemblies of God Church nigeria has taken another dimension in Enugu as two pastors of the church and their supporters turned a worship service to a fighting bout on Sunday.
The crux of the matter was a tussle on who should take charge of the parish located at 27 Mount Street, Enugu.
The Church has been enmeshed in leadership crisis, with members divided between the two contending parties on who is the authentic General Superintendent of the church between Rev. Professor Paul Emeka and Rev. (Dr.) Chidi Okoroafor.
The church because of this problem has been factionalised along two different groups leading to unending drama in the house of God.
The incident that took place at 27 Mount Street, Enugu was as a result of the action of one of the Pastors, Rev (Dr) Nathaniel Udeze who came with letters of posting and other court documents in preparation to be installed as the new pastor.
But on his arrival with his team of supporters was resisted by the resident pastor, Rev. Amaechi Agbo and his supporters, who vowed not to shift ground for any “intruder”.
The matter is currently in several courts including the Supreme Court to determine the true GS of the church.
