Super Falcons striker Desire Oparanozie expressed happiness after finding the net three times against Congo in a 5-1 thriller in the opening game.
“Glad with the goals and three points for Nigeria” the Montpellier star wrote on twitter Tuesday.
Oparanozie gave the Falcons an early lead, scoring with just five minutes on the clock. The France based forward was not done and two goals in quick succession saw the Falcons with a healthy three-goal lead after just 15 minutes.
The Falcons were soaring high and creating chance after chance with the hosts struggling to cope with the play.
The first half ended with no more goals and the Falcons appeared to have taken their foot off the pedal as they had to wait until the 90th minute to score again.
Oparanozie got a fourth goal before Chinaza Uchendu added to Congo’s misery with the fifth during added time, while the hosts pulled one back with the last kick of the game.
The Falcons, leader of Group A will face Tanzania in their second group game tomorrow at the Stade Municipal de Kintélé, Brazzaville.
