Nigerian music legend, King Sunny Ade is set to join the league of broadcast media owners in Nigeria. The veteran musician has concluded plans to float a radio station in his native Ondo State, according to reports.
Named M&C (Music & Culture) FM, the veteran Juju musician has assured fans he will bring his local and global influence to play in making the station one of the best in the country.
The musician is said to have deliberately taken his time to perfect the technical process related to running a standard radio station and has assembled a management team including financial directors, one of Nigeria’s foremost journalists as the media manager and a top broadcast engineer with himself as chairman.
Speaking on why it took almost a decade to get the regulatory approval, KSA said: “Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. The NBC has its operational standard, so do I.
I deliberately took time off to carefully select a team of loyal partners who share (the) same vision on what a music station should be.
“Don’t forget also that this will be the first radio station in Nigeria that will be solely devoted to promoting our culture and our music.”
KSA reportedly applied for the license in 2006 under the ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo administration and according to him, the station will begin transmission before the end of this year.
Meanwhile, governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has been unveiled as host of the annual Best Of Nollywood (BON) Awards 2015.
