All things being equal,the total implementation of the Ondo State Government’s residency card initiative, otherwise known as Kaadi Igbeayo, will begin today, the government has announced.
This was made known to journalists in Akure Wednesday by the state Commissioner for Information, Hon. Kayode Akinmade. He said the take-off ceremony of the total utilisation of the scheme would be presided over by Governor, Olusegun Mimiko at an event designed for the purpose by 10a.m. at the Adegbamile House in the state capital.
According to him, the implementation exercise will take off with four key sectors namely, the health, education, agric and the micro-credit areas. According to the commissioner, from July 2 when the utilisation phase begins, school pupils and students who enjoy government’s school shuttle scheme would have to present their parent’s smart card to access the facility.
He stressed that whoever wants to benefit from the government’s subsidized agricultural input as well draw from government’s micro- finance scheme would need to present the smart card before ones application could be considered.
The Commissioner added, that though the smart card has been operational in the health sector, especially with patrons of the mother and child hospitals, its utilization would now be extended to those who will be seeking to use the government facilities at the medical village and other government health facilities.
As expected, he hinted that enforcement for compliance will commence July 2, 2015. He therefore, enjoined residents to ensure they get the card.
Like any other government policy, the commissioner did not fail to list the benefits of the card as follows: facilitation of efficient record keeping, anti-corruption solution in the public service to enable higher level of qualitative and quantitative service delivery in people oriented sub-sector such as health, education, transportation and agriculture.
Others, he said, are facilitating the systematic development of database for efficient security and surveillance purpose, facilitating the use and management of government facilities such as public transportation among others.
