Former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia has declared that Rivers State PDP Governorship Candidate, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike will win the 2015governorship election because Wike would enthrone comprehensive development across the state.
The former governor spoke on New Year Eve at Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area where the Ubima Community hosted the Rivers State PDP Governorship Candidate, Barrister Wike. Ubima is also the village of outgoing governor Rotimi Amaechi. Omehia said that the hosting of Barrister Wike at the end of 2014 is symbolic as it signifies the beginning of a new government in Rivers State and the end of a non-performing administration.
He said: “This ceremony today is significant and symbolic. This event is coming at he very end of 2014. 2015 begins tomorrow and what we have done here is to introduce the new administration to be headed by Barrister Wike.
“Barrister Wike has the capacity to develop Rivers State and deliver democracy dividends to our people. I urge all our people to support him all the way to the Government House, PortHarcourt. We shall also vote President Jonathan and other PDP candidates”.
Responding, Rivers State PDP Governorship Candidate, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo apologised to the people of Ubima community for facilitating the election of outgoing governor Rotimi Amaechi who has failed
He said: “This meeting is symbolic. I have come here to inform you that beginning tomorrow which is 2015, I will formally take over the running of the Rivers State Government. I have come to give this information because it is necessary to do so at the home of the outgoing governor.
“I mean well for Rivers State and I will ensure that Ubima’s development deficiencies are addressed. It is unfortunate that you have a son as governor, but he has abandoned you. All projects in this community have been abandoned just like in other communities in Rivers State. Development will return to Rivers State from 2015”, he said.
Denis Amadi, Community leader, Ubima, Ikwerre LGA said that PDP is being revived in the area because of the injustice meted out to Ubima people by their brother, Rotimi Amachi. He said APC members in Ubima are re-joining PDP in droves as they have discovered the true position of things. The former Minister was accompanied by the Senate Committee Chairman on Defence, Senator George Sekibo.
