As the defection of former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continues to elicit reactions, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Youth Vanguard has declared that Obi’s plans to destabilise the party would not work.
A statement signed by the APGA National Youth Leader, Ikechukwu Chukwunyere described Obi’s action as an act of betrayal to dump a party through which he came into political limelight.
According to Chukwunyere, “sequel to the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of APGA Youth Vanguard, we wish to express our disappointment over the recent defection of former Governor Peter Obi to PDP.
“We see this as an act of betrayal to a party on whose pedestal Peter Obi gained prominence. The APGA Youth Vanguard wishes to inform him that his parochial interest and inordinate ambition to stop APGA will never succeed,” he added.
He pointed out that, “there is no difference between Rochas Okorocha leaving APGA to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Obi leaving APGA to PDP.
“It’s shameful that Governor Obi has teamed up against APGA with the same PDP that forcefully stole his mandate. Obi will never succeed in his treacherous job to dismantle Ojukwu’s political legacy,” he added.
He disclosed that the APGA Youth Vanguard has also fixed October 31 to formally endorse the party’s National Chairman, Victor Umeh, as the party’s candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial seat in the 2015 election.
“This grand rally will attract political stalwarts from Anambra, party chieftains and youth leaders from across the country,” he added.
