Former President Olusegun Obasanjoon Monday attended the rally of Oladipupo Adebutu, one of the governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun state.
Obasanjo, who was run the country for the maximum tenure of eight years under the Peoples Democratic Party had in the build up to 2015 elections tore his party membership card in the full view of television cameras.
He was the supporting the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of All progressives Congress against his political benefactor Dr Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP.
Things have changed dramatically in the political landscape with Obasanjo back in the trenches, this time against the same Buhari that he supported unabashedly in 2015.
Obasanjo has declared openly that Buhari is abysmal failure that does not deserve to come near the seat of power after 2019 elections.
The rally was held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The former president wished Adebutu and the PDP well in the forthcoming election, adding that he came to the event to say hello.
“I am just passing by and decided to say hello and wish you well… whether it is a joke or a real game, they will know. I saw you here and I came to play with you,” he said.
In 2015, prior to the general election, Obasanjo dumped the PDP, a platform he served two terms as president.
His decision was as a result of a fallout with then president Goodluck Jonathan. He has since reconciled with Jonathan.
