A former Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako; his son, Senator Abdulaaziz Nyako, and factional members of the All Progressive Congress belonging to the Reformed All Progressives Congress in the state on Monday defected to the African Democratic Congress.
Although Nyako was absent at the inauguration of the ADC Congress Committee and Stakeholders meeting which held at the Conference Hall of the Women Educational and Empowerment Initiative Network Centre, the National Secretary of the ADC, Said Baba-Abdullahi, in his remarks, referred to the former governor as a major stakeholder of the party in the state, saying their support for the party was a support for the former governor.
He said, “The foundation of the party in this state is in the hands of our ‘Big Commander,’ who was governor in my state and has been a leader in various capacities in this country and also brought this party to this state. I want to thank him.”
Senator Abdulaaziz Nyako, a retired Navy Commander, representing Adamawa Central Senatorial district in the senate, said, “The ADC was ready to accept us out of the four parties we are in talks with and we realised it (ADC) was the best party for us.” – Punch
