The Second edition of Distinguished Commemorative Colloquium for the Second Republic Senate Leader, Dr Olusola Saraki will come up on Monday, November 17,2014 at NUJ Press Centre, Ilorin, Kwara state.
This was contained in a statement by Snr. Assistant National Secretary, NUJ who is also the secretary, Main Organising Committee (MOC) on the colloquium, Gbemiga Bamidele.
The programme which is being organised by the national secretariat of the Nigeria union of Journalists in collaboration with Kwara state council is to celebrate the life of a great leader , Abubakar Olusola Saraki.
The maiden edition with the theme: “Leadership and Philanthropy; Perspective on Abubakar Olusola Saraki within the context of socially responsible Press’ was held on Saturday, November 16, 2013.
The event was witnessed by a mammoth crowd of friends and political associates of Baba Saraki from far and near.
The guest speaker for the second edition ,will be Professor Hassan Salihu of the Department of Political Science, University of Ilorin.
He will speak on the topic “Setting a New Development Agenda for Kwara State”, while the second lecturer, Dr. Lukman Azeez of the University of Ilorin and the Coordinator, International Institute of Journalism, Ilorin Campus, will speak on the topic,”Politicians and Journalists: Watchdog or Lapdog Relationship in ideal free democratic regime.”
The occasion, which will be chaired by Alhaji Ayinla Alarape, an associate of Dr. Olusola Saraki is expected to be graced by members of the National Assembly, Kwara State House of Assembly, Local government Chairmen, top government functionaries, politicians and associates of the late elder statesman, traditional rulers and the academia among other stakeholders within and outside the state.
Kwara State Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed is expected to be the Chief Host, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari will be the Royal Father of the day, Distinguished Senator Bukola Saraki; Special Guest of Honor while the Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Hon. Abdurrazaq Atunwa will be Guest of Honour.
