Abuja – The National Sports Commission (NSC) on Friday in Abuja said it was going to be in support of the majority decision of the Nigeria Football association (NFA) Elections Appeals Committee.

In a statement by Patrick Omorodion, the Special Assistant on Media to Sports Minister Tammy Danagogo, the commission said it would be ludicrous to do otherwise.
“The NSC has noted the conflicting reports by the NFA Elections Appeals Committee on the cases brought before it by some contestants in the Sept. 30 election of the football body held in Warri, Delta.
“But the Commission will accept the majority decision of the Appeals Committee which threw out the petitions against the elections and upheld the election of Amaju Pinnick and other members of the NFA board,’’ it quoted the NSC Director-General, Gbenga Elegbeleye, as saying.
The statement added that the NSC was accepting the majority decision because it was the civilised judicial norm.
“We must not be seen to apply it the other way round, with a minority report holding sway,” Elegbeleye was further quoted as saying.
It said the NSC recognises the election of the Amaju Pinnick-led board and wants all football stakeholders to support the board in its bid to reposition football in the country.
