The Head coach of the national U-23 men’s football team, Dream Team VI, Samsom Siasia, on Sunday in Abuja invited five players to forty the Flying Eagles.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dream VI played a goalless draw in their first leg match with Zambia at the National Stadium, Abuja.
The invited players from the victorious U-20 African Youth Champions in Senegal are to reinforce the team ahead of the crucial return game against Zambia in Lusaka.
A statement on the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) website, Siasia said the invited players were expected to arrive in the team’s Febson Hotel camp in Abuja.
The Dream Team will intensify its training for the second leg of the All African Games (AAG) qualifier against Zambia in two weeks time.
The U-23 gaffer added that he intended to invite some foreign-based players to fortify the team in the coming days.
The five invited players are Alampasu Sunday, Bernard Bulbwa, Taiwo Awoniyi, Mustapha Abdullahi and Musa Mohammed.
Meanwhile, The U-23 National Team will now take on their Zambian counterparts in an 11th All-Africa Games final round qualifying match at the National Heroes Stadium, Lusaka.
The team being coached by Samson Siasia and nicknamed Dream Team VI will qualify for Men’s Football Tournament of the 11th All-Africa Games, coming up in Congo-Brazzaville between September 3 and 18 this year if it wins the Zambian fixture.
The match was earlier scheduled for the Levy Nwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
The Nigeria Football Federation has received a communication from Zambia to hat effect.
In a letter to NFF’s General Secretary and signed by Julio Chiluba, the Head of Administration/Competitions of the Football Association of Zambia, the country’s federation informed the NFF that the match will now come up on April 12 and commence at 3pm Zambian time.
Both teams played out a 0-0 draw in the first leg that took place at the National Stadium, Abuja on March 22.
