Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has said that the nation is degenerating very fast under the present Peoples Democractic Party PDP-led Federal Government and therdore urged Nigerians to reject president Goodluck Jonathan at the polls next year.
He said the desecration of the judiciary is an indication that the country is on the verge of collapse.
The governor, who spoke at the first Igbajo Polytechnic summit and fund-raising programme at the school’s permanent site in Igbajo, Osun State, said: “The present Jonathan administration is making the country grow from bad to worse, hence the need for Nigerians to vote the President out and give the country the needed alternative to move the country to greater height.
He said the country is degenerating very fast, particularly as the country is now facing the problem of desecrating the judiciary, a body that ought to be respected to safeguard the interest of the common man.
“Every civilised nation has a respectful judiciary, and any attempt to desecrate the judiciary is an invitation to anarchy. If police can no longer curb crime, then we are doomed as the major duty of a government is to confront societal problems.
“What is even more disturbing is that the leadership of the country has not made any official statement regarding the inimical act against the judiciary.”
He said the major problem facing the country is not lack of resources but mismanagement of human and natural resources, which abound in the country.
Aregbesola said the people that formulated the APC slogan are well focused by making change the major slogan, saying what the country needs most now is change of leadership.
He commended the organisers of the summit, saying it is what the nation needs to re-focus the failing education sector in the country.
