Hundreds of Nigerians languishing in Osama Prison in Libya have cried out to the Federal Government, prominent Nigerians and the United Nations (UN) to come to their rescue.
The victims, mostly immigrants who made failed attempts to enter Europe across the Sahara Desert, said in a video recorded and smuggled out of their maximum security prison recently, that many of them have contracted various types of diseases while others die daily as a result of the unhealthy habitat they have been confined to since February 2018.
Making a passionate appeal amidst sobs, they said in the video which can be viewed on News Express TV on this website’s Home Page: “They (Libyan authorities) have refused to deport us; we have told them that we want to return to our country Nigeria. They don’t want us to go to Europe and they don’t want us to return to Nigeria. For the past five months, we have been kept in this prison. We excrete, take our bath and drink from the same source of water inside this tiny room. They give us unleavened bread to eat two times a day. Many among us have developed skin diseases while at least two people die inside here every day.”
Sending a Save Our Souls message, the detainees who covered their faces with their shirts for fear of being identified by the Libyan authorities, cried out: “Please come to our rescue. We want to come back home. We are calling on President Buhari, the Federal Government and the United Nations to come to our rescue.
“We are also pleading with the men of God – Pastors Eunoch Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, Prophet TB Joshua and Apostle Suleiman – to please help us out of this dungeon. We want to come back home, please!”
