Adams Muazu, National Chairman, PDP The Niger State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto, on Monday led over 200 political office holders in the state on a defection cruise to the All progressives Cocngress (APC). The defectors said thy were leaving the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Niger State based on unfairness and injustice during the governorship primaries of the PDP. “I am on my way to welcome our party leader and presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, at the Minna Airport for his campaign rally in Niger State,” Ibeto said. According to him, “The reason for my defection is because of the injustice meted out to me and other contestants in the state during and after the PDP governorship primaries, which was as flawed and stage managed to favour a particular candidate. “The electoral process that threw up Alhaji Umar Nasko as PDP governorship candidate was not in accordance with the PDP electoral law and the constitution. “It is trsue, we defecting to APC because the primaries, which was conducted in the state, was not in accordance with the PDP constitution. “Myself and other aggrieved party members decided to petition the national headquarters of the party on the outcome of the governorship primaries with a view to addressing the obvious injustice but met a brick wall. “We expected justice from the party’s national office but nothing was forthcoming hence we decided to join APC.” Ibeto however appealed to his supporters to be law abiding and not to be involved in politics of do or die. Among those who defected from the PDP along with Ibeto are serving members of National Assembly, members of the state House of Assembly, former commissioners and former local government areas chairmen.
