The paramount ruler of Torukongo community in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State who is also the president of the Concerned Youths of the Niger Delta, Chief John Ochi JP, has posited that the Niger Delta Volunteers can handle Boko Haram insurgents.
Speaking recently in Okrika, he said: “It has become noticeable that the Nigerian military has been compromised and this is why they keep deceiving the world that they are killing the insurgents without showing corpses while the insurgents show theirs on the internet,” he explained.
He asserted that contrary to claims in certain quaters the Nigerian militarymen have more sophisticated weapons than the insurgents.
Chief Ochi affirmed that within three months, the Niger Delta Volunteers would liberate the North from the insurgents the same way the North liberated the Niger Delta from the Igbos during the civil war.
“The Niger Delta Vigilante headed by Ateke Tom, MEND led by Tom Polo, the IYC, Boy Loaf and the Young Shall Grow can effectively deal with Boko Haram after which they should be drafted into the Nigerian Army,” he suggested.
Going further, he stated: “We did the same thing by taking Northerners into the creeks during the war to deal with Biafran soldiers but today they are not reciprocating by supporting President Goodluck Jonathan.”
