Nigeria grants license for power firm to operate 500mw plant
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has licensed Trombay Power Generation Limited to operate a 500 megawatts power plant.The Chairman of NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi, commended the company’s Group President, Jitendes Sachdeva, for the painstaking process he was subjected to in the course of the application for the coal-fired powered plant.
According to a statement from the commission, Amadi said that the 500MW power plant is located at Wajari Village along Dadinkowa Road, Yamaltu Local Government Area of Gombe state in northern Nigeria.
“I commend your patience and perseverance to follow through your application. Coal power plant is becoming important in our effort to diversify our fuel source.
“I hope you will follow through your timelines in constructing your power plant with the same dedication you displayed in the course of this application,” Amadi said.
In his remarks, the Group President of Trombay Power, Sachdeva, described the exercise as most welcoming.
“I am glad to receive this licence. The commission is a truly transparent regulatory agency,” he said.
