A 23-year-old carpenter identified as Kelvin (surname withheld) in Abraka Community, Delta State, has allegedly killed his cousin identified as David over a parcel of land which allegedly belongs to their family.
Reports said that David was allegedly murdered last Monday after he was said to have been locked in several disputes with his cousin over the said land.
Our informed sources said that the land had been acquired and fenced among the several acres of land for government use by the Delta State University (DELSU) in Site III, Abraka.
David was said to have gone to farm on that faithful day believing to return home but this was not to be as the alleged murderer was said to have attacked him on his way to the farm.
While they were both engaged in fighting, sources said the carpenter allegedly drew a knife stabbed David in the stomach, leaving him in a pool of his own blood. He bled to death on the spot.
Confirming the incident, the police public relations officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said that the suspect, a carpenter in the area, was arrested in his attempt to flee through the help of the passers-by who witnessed the fight.
She said that the suspect, upon interrogation, admitted that he had a quarrel with his cousin, saying that he retaliated during the fight that left the victim dead.
Kalu said the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
